Delta Chi Arizona Valley Alumni Chapter

For those who may have missed the International Convention in Denver this month, the Delta Chi Arizona Valley Alumni Chapter was well represented.

Four chapter members were in attendance: “C” Trey Granger, Jason Sisk, “A” Jason Michael Walker and Chad Wolett. All were significantly involved in the festivities and event recognition.

Brother Granger received the Chapter Advisor of the Year award for his work with the Arizona State Chapter. This award is given annually “to recognize an outstanding advisor for a chapter or colony for a specific, exceptional act of service during the previous academic year.” In 2017, Granger served as ABT President, “BB” and Conservator for the ASU chapter.

He also received a Meritorious Service Award.

Brother Walker was welcomed into the Sir Edward Coke Club. This club is reserved for those who have donated at least $5,000 to the Delta Chi Educational Foundation, which offers scholarships and educational resources for Delta Chi chapters and their leaders. These donations also help cover travel costs for undergraduate members to attend Convention and A’s Academy.

Granger and Walker also completed the Volunteer Alumni Certification Program on Saturday, a first-of-its-kind program offered by Delta Chi to give local volunteers the tools to properly advise chapters. Both are local volunteers as well as Vice Regents for Delta Chi Region II.

Sisk, Walker and Wolett all participated in Board meetings for the Educational Foundation during the weekend, which sponsored a world of bourbon fundraiser on Friday night that raised thousands more for the Foundation.

Another way the AZ Valley Alumni Chapter helped support DCEF is through the sale of commemorative coins, which were on sale for $15 each. This proved to be a quite popular follow-up on the successful 2016 fundraiser that raised $400, and proceeds will go toward the chapter’s designated philanthropies. While the chapter was unsuccessful at defending its Chicago Cup award from last year, it did receive the Outstanding Alumni Chapter in Programming Award for the second consecutive year.

Delta Chi also presented a check to the V Foundation for Cancer Research for $425,202 toward cancer research. Delta Chi has raised over $1 million for the V Foundation since 2006, and is 80 percent of the way toward its $500,000 goal for 2018.

For those who weren’t able to join the festivities in Denver, the 62nd International Convention will take place in St. Louis, Missouri in August 2020.
